WHAT WE BELIEVE

The heart of what we believe centers on what God has done for us in history, in his Son, and by his Spirit.

What is the Gospel?

The Fount Church seeks to be centered on the gospel. The gospel is the good news that God has acted in history, in Christ, and by his Spirit, to save sinners from sin, Satan, and shame, thereby adopting us into his family and giving us eternal life and a new identity as his beloved sons and daughters.

Basic Beliefs

There are the foundational truths upon which everything we believe is built. For more details, check out our statement of faith.

We believe…

1

In one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, true God from true God, and the Holy Spirit, the giver of life who “spoke through the prophets.”

2

That Scripture is the true and infallible written account of what this one God has done in history for us and our salvation and is sufficient for our instruction and guidance.

3

That God’s Word reveals our true condition as people who are born dead in sin, in need of salvation, but unable to save ourselves.

4

That to save us from our sin and death, Jesus came from heaven, became human, and lived a sinless life but died a sinner’s death. He was buried but rose from death, thereby making us right with God and securing eternal life for us.

5

That the local church is God’s primary means of making disciples of Jesus and spreading his glory everywhere.

Theological Distinctives

We are:
a Reformed community that holds to the doctrines of grace. We see Scripture as sufficient for life and doctrine, and we see that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone to the glory of God alone.

a Church-planting church that seeks to see a multiplication of healthy local churches in our city and country. There is no better way for gospel saturation in culture than many healthy and gospel-proclaiming local churches in a city, country, and continent.

a Disciple-making community of forgiven sinners who display the continual transformation wrought by the Spirit of God as we follow Christ. The goal is not merely to gather but to grow in Christlikeness and learn Christ. Discipleship, not conversion or church numbers, is why we exist.

a Missional community commissioned by Christ as relational witnesses to our culture. Each member must see themselves as a missionary whose passion and prayerful practice is to ensure that every man, woman, and child has repeated opportunities to see, hear, and respond to the gospel of Christ.

a Complementarian church that celebrates equality and complementarity between male and female in the local church and family. God made humanity male and female, in his image, equal in moral, personal, and spiritual worth, yet different in design and duty in the biological family and the ‘household of God.’
